I successfully self published my first book with a printing company that printed from PDF. I am now sold out and going for the second edition and want to put the manuscript into Indesign for a more professional look. Does anyone know about resources on how to find a person that could do this, or can recommend someone.
Thanks

Re: Print Ready
Fri, August 31, 2007 - 2:07 PMAbsolutely. What format is it in now? That is, what did you originally supply your files in for them to PDF from? There are tons of good freelance designers/compositors who can take your files (in Word I assume? or . . . Quark? or . . .?) and drop them into InDesign, clean them up, etc. They will charge you as little as $35/hr or as much as $100/hr depending on whom you go with, what you want, etc. I can recommend some freelancers I like, or I can post an ad for you on my industry newsgroup if you PM it to me.

Do any of the free lancers you recommend have websites where I can get a vibe of their style. I'd love the contacts. Thanks. -

Tue, September 4, 2007 - 6:57 AMThe most economical person I can think of, Hayden Foell, is mainly an illustrator, so that's what his site is dedicated to. Here's a link. The slightly pricier guy, Scott Erwert, has book stuff on his site. I can come up with more people, but these two are gold . . . Hayden for nuts & bolts, Scott for higher-level arty art director type work.
