Hi everyone,

I'm new to this tribe--it looks like a good group! Anyway, I am trying to make the leap into publishing by way of print production. My background is in advertising, and I figure that printing is printing. The difference is that hopefully I won't be driven slowly insane as I was in the advertising world. So I'm applying for production coordinator jobs here & there (anyone want to put a good word in for me at the UC Press or Chronicle?). But all the "creative"/"design" recruiter agencies seem to specialize in marketing/advertising. Does anyone know if local publishing companies use these kinds of agencies, and if so, which ones?

Thanks!

  • I used to publish the Business Journal Book of Lists. Sometimes there are lists about creative agencies, etc. Otherwise, when I've gotten gigs at Fawcette and some of the others it's been by their filling jobs directly. Best of luck. If you find any good agencies I'm interested.

    • No, but if you aren't already on my yahoo jobs list, drop me a line directly, with your e-mail address, and I'll send you an invite. Fair bit of job-listing traffic. (Same offer to anyone of course who's joined this tribe sicne lasst time I made the pitch.) It's all very grass-roots . . . folks post, I forward, and/or I go on scavenging hunts of campanies job pages when I should be doing laundry or working on freelance projects. But good stuff has come of it for many subscribers (including me--and no, I've never kept the good stuff for myself, as moderator, tempting as it has been . . .)
